Autism Awareness Ride with the Cartel Baggers
Supporting Autism Awareness is close to our hearts at Rubenstein Law. That is why we are excited to partner with the Cartel Baggers and support their Autism Awareness motorcycle ride.
Autism Awareness Day was on April 2, but we want to keep the momentum going well into April with the ride and a Bike Night.
We hope to see the Florida motorcycle community at these great events. Come on out for the April 15 Bike Night Kickoff event at the Hard Rock and the April 18 ride to Peterson South Harley-Davidson. We’ll be there, and we hope to see you there, too.
Autism Facts & Figures
Autism is a developmental disorder that impacts the ability to interact and communicate with others. Within the Autism spectrum is a vast array of symptoms and behaviors. The severity of autism symptoms can differ significantly from person to person and between boys and girls. Common symptoms include obsessive interests, repetitive behaviors, and trouble reading social cues.
According to Autism Speaks, 1 in 54 U.S. children is diagnosed with autism. Around 1 in 144 girls is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. In boys, that figure is 1 in 34.
Autism can be confirmed as early as age 2. But many children are not diagnosed until the age of 4 or older. Studies show the earlier the intervention, the better outcomes for children and their families.
Autism is a broad spectrum of disorders, all of which can have different signs and symptoms. Around 40% of people with autism are thought to be nonverbal. Roughly 31% of children with autism have an intellectual disability. Anywhere between 30 and 61% of children with autism are also thought to have ADHD.
Sadly, almost two-thirds of children with autism are victims of bullying. By raising autism awareness, we can help stop bullying and support efforts to assist children with autism and their families.
